Dear friends,I am constantly overwhelmed by your love for God and His Word. Daily I see the outworking of your devotion as you continually entrust your resources to us, to ensure the life changing Word of God is made available to people the world over.
I never cease to be amazed at the way in which God honours His people as they totally commit themselves to Him. We are in the midst of 200 years of Bible Society work around the world! What a fantastic thing it is to know that the passion that existed at the beginning exists today for God s Word. Even though we have been providing the Scriptures for 200 years, we have still hardly made a dent in the need. The world s population has exploded and more than half of the worlds languages are still without even a trace of this precious Word of life. However, we press on and daily continue to deliver the Scriptures.
There is great excitement as we settle into our new facilities at Macquarie Please come and visit! We want you to know and love our new home, for it is from here that our next stage of working together will be developed. Under God s hand, we are seeing the horizon broaden and the opportunities presented to us are only limited by the available resources. In this issue of Bibles@Work you will find reports on some of the exciting areas God has set before us.
Please uphold us in prayer as we seek to faithfully fulfil the task committed to us. If we remain focused, then the resources committed to us will continue to grow. However if we lose our focus, the converse is also true (Luke 12:35-48). Not only are we the Lord s servants, we are also yours and together as we serve our Master, we will see lives changed. What a privilege! Bible Society NSW CEO, Daniel Willis.

Ken Duncan's 'passion'
Ken Duncan and Mel Gibson have been good friends since their school days. As each embarked on their diverse and successful careers they kept in touch and especially followed each other s journey in the Christian faith.
When Mel was planning his new movie, The Passion of the Christ', he rang Ken to ask him if he would shoot a series of still panoramas of the making of the film. Ken says I thought it was a very important thing for me to do.
For two weeks he was given extensive access to the set and behind the scenes, portraying the reality, the intensity and even the humour of the making of a major
film production.
Of The Passion Ken says Its so real and the portrayal and the telling of the story is so powerful. It s not just pictures. Theres nothing more powerful than the Word.
Coinciding with the release of the film and the Bible Society exhibition at the Newcastle University, Ken is also releasing a book The Passion: Lessons from the life of Christ'. It features his panoramas of both the movie and life behind the scenes on the set, as well as interviews with Mel Gibson, and the stars of the film. There are also passages of Scripture and reflections on the life of Christ.
Ken says The book deals with the life, death and resurrection of Christ, especially His Words. When Christ speaks about love, forgiveness, hope and salvation these are things that can have a dramatic impact on all of us.
The exhibition will run from mid April to the end of May.

Building on the Rock
A generation after war tore apart their land, the people of Vietnam are building on the rock of Gods Word. Soon after the end of the war in 1975, a ban on Bible imports was lifted and it wasnt until 10 years ago that Bible production was finally allowed in Vietnam. This year, an ambitious Scriptures publishing plan has been set. More than 700,000 Bibles and portions of Scripture will be distributed to churches throughout Vietnam. 450,000 are being published for the Protestant churches, and more than 250,000 will be distributed to Catholic churches. An exciting part of the 2004 plan will be the printing of 10,000 Bibles for Children. We rejoice with our brothers and sisters in the Vietnamese Church that they are building on the rock of Gods Word. Will you support this work and their step of faith in embarking on such an ambitious publishing plan for 2004? To make a donation, please Click here or send your cheque to:
