Dear Friends,

I am writing from a literacy Symposium in Nairobi, where 46 national Bible Societies have gathered to discuss our literacy work across the world.

Bible Society wants to ensure people who receive a Bible are able to read the Scriptures and so encounter the risen Lord Jesus. Applying the best practice procedures we learn from each other at this Symposium will mean many more changed lives.
Australia contributes approximately 65% of all funding towards Bible Society literacy projects around the world. This Symposium seeks to ensure that the funds we invest in literacy do indeed make a difference and introduce people to Jesus.
In this edition of Bibles@work, we report on literacy projects in Papua New Guinea, Kenya and Rwanda. There is an inspiring account from those who have just visited China and been involved in Bible distribution, and an update on the Jesus. All about life campaign taking place across NSW and Western Australia later this year.
We have been greatly blessed over the years by supporters who have provided for the work of Bible Society in their will. Our current policy is to spread funds received in this way over 5 years to ensure adequate planning for effective use of the funds. Please contact us if you would like to learn how you can assist in this way.

Thank you once again for the wonderful ways in which, together, we are making a real difference to Bible Society work around the world.
